Welcome to Pursuing Positivity, my name is Mike. I always have people remark on my unique perspective on things. My general take on things, my attitude, my general persona and how I take the positive steps in life. For me this is good feedback, positive feedback and honestly initially it surprised me.

How and why do I see the world the way I do? How come I don’t give up hope when faced with adversity and challenge? For a long time now I’ve been uncertain of the answer to that myself! Enough time has passed and I’ve been asked so many times, so I began to think… am I different for thinking this way? Doesn’t everyone think like me? The answers I came up with were ‘I don’t think so’ and ‘it would seem not’.

Let’s face it, life – when you think about it is challenging. From birth, challenge after challenge. Learn to talk. Great, now learn to walk. “When will you learn to behave?” my parents would shout. Focus. Grow up. Embrace education. Learn to swim. Ride a bike. Though you look back and think it was easy now, they’re all huge challenges at an early age! With each one we’re to meet a certain expectation, make the grade. These challenges dissipate but are replaced with more, time passes but the expectation doesn’t go away. People around you expect and you expect of others too… and yourself! So the pressure builds…

However you happened upon this website ‘pursuingpositivity.com‘ but how? What were the reasons that brought you here? Right now I should tell you that there’s no one answer to conquer negativity and embrace a positive mindset, sorry! There are lots of ways to overcome it though, good ones 🙂

So let’s try something, when you’ve finished reading this article;

Forget lifes’ challenges and the judgement and expectations of others. Forget the pressure of everything around you right now and make time for yourself. Remember what it’s like to be you, what do you enjoy? Let’s do that!

Even just for a few minutes, you be you. Listen to your favorite music, watch your favorite film or your all time favorite comedy sketch. Read a book, or even just one chapter. For as of this moment y

ou are you, in your own space, doing your own thing. Right now everything is okay and that’s so good isn’t it?

Do you ever think that grown up you has become someone that isn’t really ‘you’? That’s understandable, it’s so easy to be the product of everyone’s expectations and to ‘conform’ but it isn’t really you is it, not truly?

  1. And drink lots and lots and lots of water! It is amazing how many people do not realise the incredible power of H2O to make us feel alert, vibrant and happier! Most of us a dehydrated! Try it! it works for me!

      Good observation! I’ve noticed that, I’m all about that H2O too… just be prepared for loads of trips to the toilet
